About the brewery

The Namysłów Brewery is one of the oldest in Poland, with a near 700-year tradition of brewing beer. The first mention of its existence appeared in the 14th century. It was on April 30th in 1321 that Konrad I (the Duke of Oleśnica and Namysłów) signed a document mentioning the 'princely malt and brewhouse' in Namysłów. However, it wasn't until 1536 that the first brewery was established at the actual castle in Namysłów. Since 1999, the Gostomski family, (through an American holding company) have owned the company. Under the name of Ryan Namysłów Brewery the brewery then commenced on a complete modernisation programme, which also included major changes to marketing. As a result the brewery gained more exposure in the media and in retail outlets. Annual production is approximately 1,000,000 hl.

According to legend, King Casimir the Great and the Emperor Charles IV drank Namyslow beer as they completed signing a peace treaty at the castle in 1348.
